Amtu Akumfi-Ameyaw - Gender & Development Expert image

Amtu Akumfi-Ameyaw is a rising leader in global gender and development advocacy, combining academic excellence, leadership experience, and a deep passion for empowering marginalized communities. She is currently pursuing an MSc in Gender, Development and Globalisation at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), building on over a decade of experience in youth leadership, women’s empowerment, and community engagement.

Recognized as a former UNFPA Youth Leaders Fellow, Amtu has contributed to advancing inclusion and protection for vulnerable groups. She has also held prominent leadership positions, including Women’s Commissioner for the University Students' Association of Ghana (USAG) and Deputy Commissioner for the University of Ghana SRC, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to advocacy and student leadership.

Today, Amtu leads the Girls in ICT (Tertiary) initiative, a collaboration with Huawei and Ghana’s Ministry of Communication, where she mentors and inspires young women to pursue careers in STEM and digital innovation. Her work bridges education, technology, and sustainable development, creating pathways for the next generation of women leaders in Ghana and beyond.

Beyond her professional and academic pursuits, Amtu is a creative entrepreneur and makeup artist, reflecting her belief that every opportunity can be transformed into meaningful impact. Grounded in resilience, vision, and innovation, she continues to shape conversations on equity, inclusion, and sustainable development, serving as a role model for youth and women aspiring to leadership in STEM, policy, and global development.
